Marine Lanterns

In his seminal publication “Towards a New Architecture” (1923) Le Corbusier, inspired by the emerging modern era and tired of the old aesthetics of luxury he urged architects to embrace the formal simplicity of the Machine Age aesthetic as a new and powerful form of beauty.  Claiming that the house is a “machine for living in” his designs were standardized forms born out of engineering necessities. Born within the context of Modernist architecture the Marine (or Nautical) style found its expression in the lighting field as well.  Our vintage marine lanterns belong to one of the most popular collections that blend beautifully with any décor both indoors and outdoors.
